April Becker’s drive to help others has included volunteer positions at The Meadows School and as member of the UNLV Libraries Advisory Board. Now, she's serving District C Clark County Commissioner. "Our government works best when officials put people first, not politics. That is April's promise for our community, putting you first and not the partisan politics that have driven a wedge between us."
Readers who want sharp, conservative analyses turn to Victor Joecks, an award-winning opinion columnist for the Las Vegas Review-Journal. A Hillsdale College graduate, and never one to shy away from controversy, Victor has offered crisp, well-reasoned arguments on CRT, global warming alarmism and inherent contradictions regarding transgender ideology. Joecks’ gift as a writer is making the complex understandable. Even readers who disagree — at least for the moment — respect and appreciate his skill in forcefully advocating for his beliefs.
Celebrate Freedom
The Siena Conservatives Club will not meet in July. Instead, in celebration of America’s independence, we strongly encourage our members to attend the annual Siena July 4th BBQ, sponsored by the Military Veterans Club.

Reagan biographer, Paul Kengor, said the disparity between the audience and critics' reviews reminded him of the 1980 presidential election, which Reagan won in a landslide against Democratic incumbent President Jimmy Carter. If you need any more evidence that there is a gap the width of the Grand Canyon between the views of progressive elites and many average Americans, look no further than the reaction to Reagan. Movie critics did everything but pour boiling tar on the film and its makers. Yet, starkly different is audience appreciation. Jessica McBride opined: “Was Ronald Reagan perfect? No. But he was the perfect man for the time. Was the Reagan movie perfect? No. But it’s the perfect movie for THIS time.”
On October 26, 1978, a U.S. Navy P-3 Orion turboprop aircraft ditched into the North Pacific after a propeller malfunction. "Navy Alfa Foxtrot 586," on a sensitive Cold War mission off the Kamchatka Peninsula, sank within ninety seconds, taking one of the three rafts with it. Two lives were lost, including a flight engineer and command pilot, Jerry Grigsby. Of the surviving thirteen men huddled together in the remaining two rafts, three eventually died from exposure. Loreen Gibbons, Jerry’s widow, authored the memoir, “All Eternity Lies Before Me.” Told from Loreen's perspective as well as from the perspectives of the survivors— including husband, Matt, said flight’s tactical coordinator— details the struggle, grief, and heroism of the men and their rescuers.
